Scenes Of Nasu Highlands 2

One of the main tourist attractions in the Nasu Highlands is, needless to say though, Onsen (or hot springs). Most of the accommodation in the area are equipped with the comfortable bathing spaces within. A hotel we stayed at had a private bathing space at the room's balcony.

And also, there are a lot of onsen facilities providing drop-in bating services. We unexpectedly found one of them in the middle of mountains during the hiking. It was a very simple and retro-style place with no excessive services provided but just bathing. Such an interesting spot to visit.

We bumped into a hidden onsen spot.

The name of the facility is Kita Onsen

The bathing room is very simple. No amenities equipped,
but bath tub. You need to prepare self-washing items on your own.

Not hot, but warm.

The Nasu highland area in Tochigi Prefecture is a famous holiday resort, especially as a summer retreat. Only a few hour driving or train ride takes you down there from central Tokyo.

If you want a relaxed atmosphere to escape from reality, the Nasu highlands are the one of the desirable places. Don't go to bustling tourist spots like Nikko or Hakone. They just give you more fatigue and take more money out of your pocket.
